AdSense has offered 3 basic program for you to apply in your site, AdSense For Content, AdSense for Search and AdSense Referrals.
AdSense Content will required you to display an advertisement in your website and you get paid for valid clicks on the ads on your site as well as impressions. Its a good program to monetize your blog or website coz you dont have to pay any single dollar to join.

The Google AdSense for Search was a program that attracted me to join coz it will give an added value to your blog, it was a prower search engine to provide web search directly from your site, if you look under my top header then you could see it, this web search will open another windows to display your search result and in that page you could set your own header or logo as per what i did (give a try, then you could see it)... you'll generate earnings from ad clicks made by users on the search results pages.

Referrals is an another method that you could use to generate some money by adding a refferal button or logo into your site, Your earnings for referrals will vary depending on the product you're referring.

Most of the blogger nowadays are using AdSense to monetize their blog, it has been a consistent money maker for most blogger.
